This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in relevant engineering discipline;
  • Specialist training in Welding Engineering is desirable;
  • Working towards Licensed Professional Engineer in Nova Scotia (or ability to transfer from another province or jurisdiction);
  • Knowledge of all welding processes, including mechanization, experience with automation and robotics is desirable;
  • Awareness of classification society material rules and weld procedure and welder qualification requirements;
  • Capable of working independently and with others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing welding development activities;
  • Developing technical welding documents and technical support to the business;
  • Procedure testing and writing weld procedures;
  • Working with consumable and equipment suppliers to ensure that production has the correct tools to achieve the required weld quality and productivity;
  • Review of NDE report and other quality metrics and creating action plans to resolve quality issues;
  • Working with production to improve welding productivity.
