Web/ux Advisor

 

Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Digital Media, you will be responsible for improving the user experience on the NCC's main web platforms. You will focus on users' expectations and needs, while considering the NCC's objectives. You will prepare action plans, provide in-depth analysis and insight based on best practices for the development of web content and functionality to ensure that projects meet needs and delivers expected results. You will collaborate with internal clients and team members to solve problems, push boundaries and create new solutions.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in computer science, information technology (IT) or a related discipline, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience relevant to the position.

EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in web development and in the areas specified below.

  • Planning, coordinating or managing Web projects.
  • User interviews, usability testing, tree testing and other UX research methods.
  • Creating personas and user journeys.
  • Prototyping and producing functional mock-ups.
  • Implementing quality controls.
  • User interface design.

KNOWLEDGE

  • Of prototyping tools, for example: Figma, Adobe XD or Marvel.
  • Of website optimization and web accessibility standards.
  • Of industry trends and best practices in UX/UI design.

ABILITIES

  • To work with multidisciplinary teams such as content creators, web designers and web developers.
  • To work in a fast-paced environment undergoing major technological changes.
  • To manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • To communicate effectively orally and in writing in both official languages.

  • Analysis and performance tools. For example: HotJar, Google Analytics or Adobe Analytic.
  • Government of Canada web legislation, policies, principles and best practices.
  • Of content optimization, Web accessibility, Web site usability and Web interoperability.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance.
  • Linguistic profile: Bilingual BBB.
  • Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario.
  • The National Capital Commission offers a hybrid and flexible work environment, all employees are currently asked to work on-site at least two (2) days per week.
