Description:
Rupertsland Institute (RLI) is hiring one (1) Web Developer. This is a summer term position with an end date of August 31, 2024. Reporting to the Métis Student Services Manager, the successful candidate will provide support with creating website layouts, designing webpage layouts, and updating the RLI website. The successful candidate will be an eager, self-motivated individual looking to gain valuable work experience. The successful candidate will have proficiency in HTML, CSS, and Javascript, have strong attention to detail, and have strong interpersonal skills with a positive attitude.
To Fit the Role
Responsibilities:
- Create Website layout/user interfaces using standard UI/UX practices.
- Designing webpage layouts.
- Updating and maintaining the website, ensuring it remains current and functional.
- Conducting website performance tests and optimizing the website as needed.
- Ensuring all content is up to date and accurate.
- Coordinating with the MSS Manager, MSS summer students, and IT staff to achieve RLI goals.
- Assist with other projects, as needed.
- Other duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 1 – 2 years of related experience is an asset. School or volunteer experience is considered valid experience.
- Experience with React.js and familiarity with front-end frameworks and libraries.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
- Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git.
- Understanding of UI/UX principles.
- Knowledge of RESTful API’s and integration with back-end services would be an asset.
- Ability to create responsive and accessible web interfaces.
- Experience with project management tools and collaboration platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with others.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail oriented with a strong focus on quality and user experience.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when working with sensitive information.
- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people.
