Description:

As a web developer at Works Design, you are a critical member of the team during the development and delivery of projects. You will interact with multiple teams on materials to ensure the quality of agency work in the creation of new client websites, the maintenance of existing websites hosted by Works Design and the implementation of updates to the Works Design website.

WHAT ARE YOUR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES?

  • Producing pixel-perfect websites, following design and functional specifications
  • Delivering every site and database-driven application bug-free and on budget
  • Help to troubleshoot production issues; point out potential problems and offer solutions
  • Participate in group/project meetings and contribute ideas during brainstorming sessions
  • Stay on top of industry news and trends; be informed of current developments in your field
  • Work and communicate well with Quality Assurance and other team members to deliver error-free work

DO YOU NEED SPECIAL EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE?

  • Post-secondary degree or certification, or equivalent, in web development, information technology or computer science
  • Minimum three years of experience developing front-end and back-end websites
  • Experience building websites from scratch
  • Intermediate skills in JavaScript, CSS, HTML and PHP
  • Familiarity with MySQL, jQuery, SCSS, GIT and WordPress
  • Basic skills in Adobe XD, Figma, Photoshop and Illustrator (to view designs and exporting assets)
  • Understanding of SEO principles and analytics to create optimized search-friendly websites
  • Understanding of and adherence to web standards (particularly the principles of accessibility), WCAG 2.0 and 2.1, and best practices in security, accessibility and responsive design
  • Experience with modern browsers such as Firefox, Chrome, Edge and Safari
