Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Veterinary Assistant. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing hands-on care and support to our animal patients. Under the supervision of our veterinary professionals, you will assist with various medical procedures, ensure the comfort and well-being of our patients, and contribute to the smooth functioning of the veterinary hospital.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in handling and restraining animals during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
- Monitor and observe patients' behavior, vital signs, and recovery progress, promptly reporting any abnormalities or concerns to the veterinary team.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, surgery suites, and treatment areas, ensuring they are clean, organized, and properly stocked with supplies.
- Educate and assist clients in post-operative care, medication administration, and general pet health maintenance.
- Assist with radiography procedures, including positioning patients and ensuring radiation safety protocols are followed.
- Monitor and manage inventory of medical supplies, medications, and equipment, ensuring their availability and proper storage.
- Provide compassionate care and attention to patients, ensuring their comfort, cleanliness, and hygiene needs are met.
- Collaborate with the veterinary team to maintain a clean and sterile environment, following infection control protocols and practices.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training as a Veterinary Assistant is preferred.
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is an asset.
- Strong empathy and genuine compassion for animals, demonstrating a commitment to their well-being.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues and interact with clients.
- Basic understanding of veterinary medical terminology, procedures, and common animal diseases.
- Knowledge of safe animal handling and restraint techniques, prioritizing the safety and comfort of both animals and staff.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in recording and documenting patient information.
- Basic computer literacy, including proficiency in using veterinary software and electronic medical records systems.
