Description:
Duties include:
- Provide informed bilingual tours of the museum and pioneer village to the public including members of the francophone community.
- Assist with presenting cultural and science-based activities in the museum’s Kids Days program.
- Assist with integrating community garden activities into the Kid Days program.
- Clean and maintain the museum building and exhibits.
- Assist visitors with requests for information about tourism in the City of Pembroke and the outlying rural area.
- Act as a good ambassador in cultural tourism for the museum and historical society.
- Help manage the museum's social media accounts during the busy summer season.
- Help with maintaining the grounds and buildings so that they are attractive to museum visitors - Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
This job is suited to a youth or student who has been enrolled in a University or college student from the fields of history, early childhood education, teaching, Museum Studies, Urban Forestry, etc. The Museum may consider high school students with relevant experience as well.
- Advanced experience using Microsoft Office and social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
- Good public speaking and organizational skills.
- An interest in history and heritage in the community.
- Youth must be between 15 and 30 years of age.
- Bilingualism is a definite asset.
