Description:
Your specific duties as a Test Lab Technologist Engineer, Woodbridge, Ontario (On-site) will include:
Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product. Formulates and maintains quality control objectives and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs. Directs, through intermediate personnel, workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products. Plans, promotes, and organizes training activities related to product quality and reliability. May investigate and adjust customer complaints regarding quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules and performs various product testing including weld testing with available equipment.
- Maintain knowledge of Lab Manual pertaining to Lab, ISO/QS 9000, TS16949:2002, AIAG standards, customer standards, safety standards.
- Make "pass" or "fail" recommendations on tests in accordance with set standards/specifications.
- Carry out continual conformance testing for the engineering, quality, and production department.
- Safe operation and maintenance of test equipment and measuring instruments to prevent costly damage to prototypes and equipment.
- Responsible to protect own health and safety by working in compliance with established safe work practices and procedures.
- Troubleshooting of test lab equipment -- current and preventative.
- Conducts analysis of test samples
- Assign priorities and schedules tests.
- Perform testing for PPAP and DVP + R.
- Read and become knowledgeable with specifications and standards.
- Accurately report test results and advise corrective actions.
- Perform environmental testing, durability testing, salt spray testing, static/dynamic load testing, and weld testing*.
- Support prototype build.
- Complete technical writing, test reports, summaries and presentations
- Performs all job functions abiding by the office/work standards, policies and procedures as outlines in the company handbook.
- Performs all job functions in alignment with IATF 16949 quality management standards and ISO 14001
- Actively participates in continuous improvement
- Maintain 5S standards in working environment
- Performs all job functions in a safe, healthful and environmentally conscious manner, abiding by all health, safety and environment rules and regulations as outlined in the company handbook
- Performs other duties as assigned or any reasonable request by management.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Machine shop experience is required
- Ability to accurately test products for consistency with specifications.
- Good verbal and written communication skill.
- Quality Assurance training.
- Working with hand tools
