Temporary Shift Supervisor

Description:

• Supervise and coordinate the crews safety, storage and shipment of merchant, structural and rebar products for the Whitby Mill.

• Maintain accurate records as related to shipping process and inventory levels.

• Develop an effective liaison between other departments and mill warehouse operations elsewhere in the corporation.

• Administer corporate and local rules and practices related to personnel and safety.

• Ensure compliance to Personal Protective Equipment policies and standards according to Provincial regulations and Company requirements.

• Maintain effective relationship with supervisors within the Whitby Mill.

• Responsible for carrying out corporate policy, programs and consistent application of the collective agreement. Handle first step grievance meetings.

• Ensures that established safety procedures are implemented and followed in their area.

• Ensures that team and safety meetings are held regularly and that overall safety performance is assessed.

• Will assist Department Manager to develop a safety and environmentally conscious team.

• Conducts accident and incident investigations and required forms to determine root cause to prevent future occurrences.

• Documents the standard processes to be used through the use of process control standards, management standards, routine procedures, job aids, one point lessons, and process guarantee tables through collaboration with hourly and supervisory personnel.

• Oversees departmental training requirements to ensure clear communication of the standards to those responsible for compliance.

• Audits the workforce performance to the standards in accordance with a pre-determined schedule. Documents the results of these audits and provides the needed corrective actions to ensure performance to standards.
