Description:
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Technical Engineer/Officer to join its Nuclear Sustainability Services - Minor Modifications team. This role is part of OPG’s broader commitment to innovation and sustainability as it works to electrify life in one generation and drive low-carbon energy solutions for Ontario’s future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the Modification Team Lead, responsible for managing safety, resources, risks, scope, cost, and schedule for assigned modifications.
- Develop comprehensive plans, including modification plans, contracting strategies, procurement plans, and installation & commissioning schedules, ensuring modifications are delivered safely and on time.
- Lead and monitor modification outlines, track design progress, manage work order assessments, oversee material deliveries, and facilitate Constructability, Operability, Maintainability, and Safety (COMS) meetings.
- Represent Nuclear Sustainability Services - Minor Modifications at various internal and external meetings, including Modification Oversight Committee Meetings, Outage Meetings, and Work Management Meetings.
- Prepare and present Business Case Summaries, and manage capital project funding approval through the gated process.
- Conduct field inspections, acceptance checks, and approvals.
- Prepare Preliminary Engineering Packages for both permanent and temporary modifications.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date processes and procedures, incorporating operational improvements and system additions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in OPG or the nuclear sector.
- Experience as a Project Lead or Project Manager.
- Experience as a Modification Team Leader is preferred.
- Knowledge of OPG’s ECC Process (Engineering Change Control) is an asset.
- Familiarity with key processes such as Chestnut Park Accord Addendum (CPAA), PSA & ES-MSA, Work Management Processes (W-PROC-WM-0008, W-PROC-WM-0095 for online execution, and W-PROC-WM-0092 for outage execution).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in leading meetings and delivering presentations.
- P.Eng designation and/or PMP certification is preferred.
