Technical Ami Analyst

 

Description:

  • Reporting under the Senior Manager of the AMI Network Equipment Department of AMI Operations, to provide metering lab services in the areas of wholesale and retail metering, related network infrastructure, and other ancillary equipment and systems.
  • Prepare and maintain meter and data estimate documentation, records, and data systems to ensure accurate and auditable revenue metering as per regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct testing of AMI equipment, including meters and network equipment within and outside of the scope of accreditation, using a variety of test equipment in a lab environment.
  • Test, interrogate and program meters, troubleshoot communication issues, and develop communication solutions for both mesh and point-to-point network connections.
  • Respond to and resolve customer complaints related to metering and meter accuracy issues.
  • Maintain lab equipment and test consoles and apparatus, including periodic accuracy checks, updating logs, troubleshooting, raising safety concerns, and participating in maintenance conducted by third parties.
  • Analyze and investigate equipment failures and nonconformances with the support of senior team members and generate reports and recommendations.
  • Conduct testing of vendor software and tools to support product certification, including creating test documents, test reports, and working with other internal teams to certify software.
  • Provide support to Billing, Customer Service and Engineering departments, as required.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and assist in resolving issues identified through audits within the context of the Quality Management System.
  • Support the development, preparation, and delivery of courses, training material, work instructions, and knowledge base documents on revenue metering and associated systems to support internal and external training and learning needs, as assigned.
  • Assist and help coordinate assigned projects or studies on various aspects of revenue metering, meter inventory, support systems, software, and training.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvement, including identifying opportunities for improvement, nonconformances, and other informal suggestions to senior team members.
  • Adhere to all safety practices and procedures, including the use of PPE, job planning, inspections, and reporting.
  • Perform other duties as required.
     

Selection Criteria
 

  • Requires a good knowledge of electrical theory, including instrumentation and operating characteristics of metering equipment.
  • This knowledge is normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of university training.
  • Requires experience with hands-on equipment testing and/or revenue metering systems. A period of at least 2 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
  • Knowledge of metering as per Measurement Canada, OEB, IESO and other legislative requirements is an asset.
  • Experience troubleshooting electronics and networks from a hardware, software, or firmware perspective is an asset.
  • Experience in an accredited meter shop is an asset.
  • Experience in Quality Management Systems or leading audits is an asset.
  • Experience with SAP DM is an asset.
