What will I be doing?

  • Providing expert-level support in high-volume critical environments to deploy, manage, maintain, monitor, automate, test, operate and troubleshoot I&IT Infrastructure services. Including but not limited to hardware and software-defined infrastructure, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), hybrid cloud technologies, on-prem and co-located Data Center technologies such as Rack/Stack, Blade, Chassis, Servers, Storage, Fabric, Load balancer, Microsoft Azure services-based cloud platforms, including Microsoft Azure Landing Zone, IaaS, CaaS, PaaS, SaaS, DaaS, Virtual-Networking and Reporting.
  • Provide systems engineering support for Hyper-converged IT infrastructure and disaster recovery practices. Help various teams to prepare disaster recovery procedures and put contingency measures in place. Installing and supporting various OS and relevant services for Windows, Linux (RHEL/CentOS), SunOS, Unix Servers while ensuring security best practices to meet industry compliance.
  • Provide guidance and support for escalated incidents and problems for Active Directory, Azure Active Directory. Knowledge of Azure PowerShell, Windows PowerShell, Azure DevOps/Github Enterprise is a plus.
  • Deploy, document, manage, maintain, monitor, test, operate and troubleshoot Hyper-converged virtualized and standalone servers. Build and manage clusters for HA/DR on various hardware platforms such as HPE Blade System, Brocade, Cisco UCS/FI, HPE 3PAR/Nimble/StoreOnce, F5. Hands-on to DR concept, Cloud Backup/Storage (i.e. Metallic or similar), NetBackup and Database recovery (e.g. Oracle/Exadata, MSSQL/Always On, MongoDB, Azure DaaS).
  • Work with the business groups/units and IT/DR teams/vendors to discern business process criticality to technical recovery capabilities and ensure that effective Disaster Recovery Plans are in place to recover our production environments successfully.
  • Explore and evaluate new and emerging software tools, technologies, and best practices. Implement, document, manage and support various Business and Infrastructure needs such as environment build, upgrades, consolidations while maintaining adequate system monitoring, policies, and audits.
  • Facilitates dialogue and discussion between the business and stakeholders (internal and external), assists with prioritization between competing objectives (i.e. run meetings, focus groups, joint sessions, and workshops)
  • Provides technical expertise in cross departmental teams tasked with process improvement and efficiency projects
  • Develops an in-depth understanding of the business processes, assets, facilities, responsibilities, regulatory requirements, and interdependencies within Metrolinx
  • Carries out research for projects and potential initiatives and analyses the research results
  • Prepares reports and presentations outlining the problem description, development and evaluation of alternatives, recommendations, and implementation actions
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to logically analyze and creatively solve complex issues independently.
  • Ability to coach and mentor associates in the team with modern software techniques.
