Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Provides informational services (in groups, in person, on the phone, social media, via email) to prospective Indigenous students, families, and guidance counsellors.
- Presentations to varied audiences (in-person or digital).
- Communicates information pertaining to the University of Calgary in an accurate, timely, and honest manner.
- Detailed Knowledge of the University of Calgary's programs, services, enrolment policies and procedures is ensured.-Provides pre-screening of application credentials to facilitate the application and admission process along with referrals to other relevant areas (Continuing Education, Faculty of Graduate Studies, the Writing Symbols Lodge, etc.).
- Assisting the Student Recruitment Specialist, Indigenous with ensuring that e-mail and phone queries are responded to in a timely fashion.
- Specifically supports the Indigenous Recruiter e-mail account.
- Assisting the Student Recruitment Specialist, Indigenous by conducting targeted e-mail or phone campaigns to engage with prospective or incoming Indigenous students.
- Assisting the Student Recruitment Team with the distribution of Indigenous recruitment materials.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in a related field is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the organizational structure of the University of Calgary with regard to such factors as location, student population and academic programs is considered an asset.
- Ability to manage change and demonstrate success in leading change initiatives.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology with a specific focus on virtual fair platforms, online presentation tools, and CRM tools such as EzRecruit.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with diverse groups of people.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, colleagues, school administrators, officials and representatives.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure, team-based environment and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Treaty 7 territory and/or an established working relationship with Treaty 7 communities are considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with Indigenous Peoples and alongside Indigenous communities including Elders and Traditional Knowledge Keepers.
- Demonstrated understanding of the cultural knowledge and communication skills required to connect with Indigenous students, schools and communities.
- Willing to work evenings and weekends as required.
