Structural Analysis Engineer

 

Description:

Designs and analyzes products for cosmetic and functional housing, internal components, and development, including evaluation of existing standard parts, equipment and packaging. Verifies designs using CAE, manual methods, and functional test. Designs and performs experiments for verification analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Architects, designs, and supports developing, and testing of mechanical solutions through CAE to several highly-complex technical projects.
  • Supports technology roadmap process from a structural and thermal SME standpoint.
  • Champions new thinking and creativity in team members to cultivate and retain top talent. Coaches others on how to effectively develop, communicate, and implement new solutions.
  • Maintains keen awareness of competitor products and development direction to help direct designs to surpass the competition.
  • Analyzes competitor intellectual property and participates in activities related to protecting intellectual property.
  • Perform mechanical and thermal analysis of rugged handheld scanners, mobile computers, tablets and related items. Given CAD models, be able to generate proper FEA or CFD model. Process and Post-Process using Abaqus and Hyperworks tools for FEA. Experience with industry standard CFD software.
  • Be able to perform hands on stress, shock, vibration and thermal analysis.
  • Uses status as a knowledge leader in mechanical structures to provide technical leadership to a given program
  • Develops new tools and techniques to aid in the analysis and solving of problems. Provides resolutions to a diverse range of complex problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of a variety of factors.
  • Exercises judgment (within broadly defined policies and practices) in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining CAE results.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication, strong motivation to succeed, and self-direction are required.
  • Understands customer needs and reflects those needs in the support provided.
  • Be an ideal team player and take proactive initiatives. Establishes requirements for highly complex mechanical design projects and may lead a team responsible for establishing requirements. Ensure correct features are incorporated first in the projects.
  • Initiates cross-company collaboration and develops positive relationships with other engineering disciplines
  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise. Interacts with management and senior customer personnel on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines. Represent the organization as the principal customer contact and often performs project leadership
  • May supervise the activities of others.

 

 

Qualifications:


Minimum Education:

 


  • Bachelors degree is related technical discipline, Masters Degree or PhD in appropriate engineering discipline preferred.Minimum Work Experience (years):
  • 12+ years of experience

  • Mold Flow analysis a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skill
