Strategic Account Representative

 

Description:

MSC Industrial Supply Co. is seeking a Strategic Account Representative to drive long-term, profitable sales growth by acquiring new large accounts within the defined geographic area. The role involves the development and execution of a comprehensive prospecting initiative, targeting high-potential customers and successfully negotiating long-term contracts. You will be responsible for meeting sales quotas, fostering customer relationships, and ensuring MSC’s value proposition is effectively communicated.


Responsibilities:

  • Develop new accounts and meet sales/market plan goals focusing on new business.

  • Identify and qualify potential customers and perform detailed customer needs analysis.

  • Negotiate long-term contracts with new customers.

  • Develop pricing schedules that align with the company’s gross margin objectives.

  • Design plans and conduct surveys based on customer needs.

  • Provide market intelligence and submit regular reports to management.

  • Foster the MSC Culture within the department and company.

  • Participate in special projects and additional duties as required.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of high school education (diploma/GED), with a preference for a college degree (2-4 years).

  • 3+ years of proven success in system and solution-based sales.

  • Strong organizational, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work across a variety of presentation environments and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with technical product knowledge, including fasteners, chemicals, industrial maintenance supplies, and more.

  • Understanding of business profitability and economic concepts.

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 75% within the assigned region are required.
