Description:
Responsible for maintaining a timely flow with regard to the receipt and delivery of equipment and supplies throughout the hospital.
Accountabilities:
- Transportation of medical/surgical and general supplies to and from all departments and services within the hospital.
- Maintain departmental pick-ups and deliveries.
- Reorder (including entry of data to generate new purchase requisitions), re-stock and deliver supplies and equipment to units/departments to maintain established quota levels.
- Responsible for regular cycle counts and annual inventory counts of computerized inventory.
- Process inventory transactions daily in the system.
- Receive and reconcile shipments from suppliers. Must wear approved safety toed shoes.
- Perform housekeeping of storeroom.
- Fill requisitions for sterile and medical/surgical supplies on an as-needed basis for nursing units.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Secondary School Diploma
- A minimum of 1 year experience in healthcare supply chain required
- Basic working experience using Microsoft Office
- Ability to read, write and comprehend English well; good mathematical skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated initiative
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and within a team
- Ability to set priorities and deal with fluctuating workloads
- Computerized inventory management systems preferred
- Ability to operate manual lifting devices in a safe and efficient manner preferred
- Previous experience working in a healthcare environment preferred
- Previous experience working in a warehouse setting preferred
- Evidence of satisfactory attendance record
- An employee’s disciplinary record will be reviewed as part of the assessment of qualifications
