Description:
As a Staff Product Designer at Absorb Software, you will lead the design strategy for large-scale initiatives, driving projects from concept to launch. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you’ll create and evolve design systems, ensuring a seamless user experience across our product ecosystem. You’ll own the full design process—user research, ideation, prototyping, and implementation—while mentoring and elevating the design team. Working closely with product, engineering, and leadership, you’ll influence product evolution and uphold the highest standards of design quality, keeping Absorb at the forefront of the eLearning industry.
What you’ll do:
Define and execute the design work for large-scale initiatives, ensuring alignment with product goals, setting a clear design vision, collaborating across multiple crafts, and scaling design impact across the entire product ecosystem.
Own the design process from concept to launch, including user research, problem definition, ideation, prototyping, user testing, and implementation support.
Develop and evolve design deliverables and tooling, including component libraries, iconography, color schemes and typography selection for multiple product surfaces.
Contribute to work planning and product evolution in collaboration with the product management, engineering teams and senior stakeholders.
Actively advance Product Design discipline at Absorb through exploration and adoption of new design trends, tools, and techniques.
Show up as an experienced design leader and role model that sets a high design quality bar, inspires, fosters growth, mentors and levels up the team.
Work in close collaboration with the design manager to grow and evolve the Product Design team and practice at Absorb.
What you’ll bring:
8+ years of progressively more senior experience as an Individual Contributor in Design with a strong portfolio showcasing the quality of your work.
2+ years of building and maintaining design systems.
Ability to lead complex design initiatives, make strategic design decisions, and influence the design direction across multiple teams or products.
Superior mastery in all aspects of product design including UX/UI and visual design, color theory, information architecture, interaction design, typography, data visualization, content design, and accessibility. Expert knowledge of Figma.
Deep experience in building and maintaining design systems and product guidelines.
Advanced skills in working, collaborating, leading, and building amazing products as part of a remote, distributed team.
Applied knowledge of research strategies and methods that facilitate each step of the product development in the design thinking process.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain design rationale, present ideas clearly, advocate for user-centered solutions.
Proven ability to engage with senior leadership, product, and engineering teams, gaining buy-in for design decisions.
Strong craft leadership skills with experience in mentoring a levelling up the craft.
