Description:
Women’s College Hospital is an independent ambulatory care hospital in Ontario with a primary focus on women's health. As a teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, WCH supports research in women's health and will lead the way in training health-care providers within an ambulatory setting. It is also home to Toronto Academic Pain Medicine Institute (TAPMI), which is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary academic pain program serving as the hub for chronic pain care in Toronto.
At all of our base hospitals, we are closely aligned with Surgery and Intensive Care programs, providing clinical, educational, and administrative services in all related areas. We are also well integrated with our hospitals’ academic mission and have one of the most productive academic anesthesia departments in the world.
The successful candidate will provide anesthetic care throughout the surgical and obstetric programs including supervision and teaching of students, residents, and fellows. On-call services will be provided in rotation. Participation in formal in-house and University teaching programs, as well as hospital administrative duties will be expected. Academic opportunities for research and teaching are available. Protected time is awarded according to a merit-based system. The incumbent will have major clinical responsibilities and in addition to their own academic activities, will facilitate the research, teaching, and education by others. Teaching may be done concurrently with clinical care and/or in organized educational programs.
The successful candidate must have a medical degree, postgraduate fellowship training, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Anaesthesia (or equivalent) and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate must have proven clinical skills at a high level, evidence of demonstrated excellence in research and/or education and a commitment to teaching students, residents, and fellows. Compensation will depend on the amount of clinical work performed and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and within the usual range for an anesthesiologist in the Province of Ontario ($300,000-500,000 per annum).
