This position can be based out of Toronto, Calgary or Vancouver. McCarthy Tétrault employees benefit from a hybrid work environment.
As a Specialist, Knowledge Integration and Innovation, you will be:
- Acting as a subject matter expert in knowledge and information governance by supporting and contributing to the:
- Development and utilization of existing assets, programs, and tools;
- Measurement of usage of our KI investments; and
- Systems, tools, and processes to manage firm knowledge in support of legal practices.
- Manage the KI platform by and executing a long-term plan for knowledge and information asset development based on business goals.
- Portfolio management and reporting:
- Managing regular updates on metrics, including analysis of metrics and recommendations to the Senior Director and to stakeholders;
- Assisting in the creation and execution of project plans, defining scope, objectives, KPIs, schedule, stakeholders, and milestones;
- Identifying risks and spearheading mitigating actions; and
- Managing day-to-day operational aspects of projects, including scope and deliverables.
- Strategic Platforms Contribution - Supporting all aspects of select firm tools and platforms (such as HighQ/McCarthy Central, iManage and our intranet), including:
- Demoing the tool to both clients and internal stakeholders;
- Working with clients and lawyers to scope the problem they are trying to solve and recommending a solution;
- Training users and creating FAQs; encouraging “self-service” by users’
- Recommending, developing and managing the process and tool development roadmaps;
- Managing integrations with other firm tools and processes; and
- Managing the workload of tool “builders” and ensuring client and urgent sites are prioritized by the team.
- Supporting the Senior Director in change management initiatives:
- Leading workstreams to build awareness and drive usage of assets, programs, and tools;
- Creating meaningful, plain language written materials throughout change initiatives;
- Applying process mapping, improvement, and best practices.
- Building relationships and effectively collaborating with a variety of stakeholders at all levels of the organization, and externally with consultants and vendors where necessary.
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- Advanced degree in a related field, such as Master of Library Science, Information studies, or Knowledge Management.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a knowledge management and/or legal environment, with at least 1 year in a professional services environment.
- Demonstrated expertise with legal innovation tools and solutions.
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to influence and to lead peers and others.
