Solution Architect

Description:

At Univeris, the Solution Architect role for Professional Services is a key client-facing position engaged in projects sponsored by the Univeris clients. The role is responsible to interact with clients in order to understand project requirements, develop high level solution architecture and detailed design documents, make sure the project solution is aligned with the Univeris’ target enterprise architecture and meets the client’s requirements, make project specific technical decisions, mitigate project technical risks by developing PoCs and development responsibilities. The role’s responsibilities may change, depending on projects specific circumstances

The Solution Architect reports to the Director of Enterprise Architecture. Being embedded in the professional services team, the role is accountable to the project manager and the Director of Engineering for the delivery of his/her work products.
For most projects, the expectation is that the application architect spends: a) 40% architecture and design work. b) 30% operational duties and c) 30% hands-on development.

The Role*

• Solution Architecture and Detailed Design
• Define the solution architecture developing a UML model and diagrams using Sparx EA.
• Document the solution architecture leveraging the design model.
• Participate in the planning process.
• Participate in design and development of core services and frameworks within the system.
• Identify and take ownership of technical project risks and issues, and propose mitigation strategies and resolution of issues.
• Recognize potential reuse of components by observing and understanding the broader system environment.
• Be aware of stakeholders’ development plans for the application and why the architecture does not hinder this roadmap.

Planning

• Provide technical support to the product owner and team captain during functional requirements definition to ensure that functionality is both technically achievable, and feasible within the project constraints.
• Contribute to defining and estimating the development tasks.
