Solid Waste And Recycling Utilityman/truck Driver

Description:

The Public Works Department is seeking qualified, hard-working, and team-oriented people to join the team as a Solid Waste and Recycling Utilityman. In this role you will be performing routine manual work involving considerable physical effort and agility in the collection and disposal of garbage, recycling, and green waste.

Major Duties and responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of staff working in the Solid Waste and Recycling division include, but are not restricted to:

• Collection of refuse, garbage, and recycling.
• Operation of a split body garbage truck
• Litter pickup.
• Assisting the Public Works department with other duties as required.
• Performing related work as required.

Qualifications, skills & experience

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Must hold a current BC driver’s license, Class 3 with air endorsement.
• Ability to exercise independent judgement and action.
• Ability to execute oral and written instruction.
• Ability to communicate effectively with other Town staff, contractors, and particularly when dealing with the public.
