Major Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Work with the Communications Team and other department leads to produce strategic social media campaigns that support a wide variety of projects and programming
  • Monitor, moderate, and respond to day-to-day comments and/or questions on social media channels and platforms
  • Provide reporting on media and social media analytics on a weekly and monthly basis, and for reporting documents to the Government of Canada
  • Grow online audiences and user engagement for APF Canada’s Canada-in-Asia Conferences (CIAC), Asia-based programming, Asia Watch newsletter, the APEC-Canada Growing Business Partnership (ACGBP), Women’s Business Mission Series, Canadian Women’s International Network, and other established and emergent initiatives
  • Leverage compelling audio-visual content (i.e. edited photos, graphics, videos, podcasts, etc.) for APF Canada’s online and social media platforms
  • Oversee the ongoing development and curation of APF Canada’s secondary websites, including for CIAC and the ACGBP (Wix and WordPress CMS)
  • Publish online content for APF Canada’s primary website (Drupal CMS)
  • Write communications content including but not limited to press releases, announcements, display text, and reports
  • Utilize Search Engine Optimization best practices to increase online audiences and engagement with our work
  • Stay up to date on and utilize emerging social media technologies and features
  • Propose new ideas and concepts for enhanced social media and website content
  • Participate in web design meetings and processes and ensure esthetic complementarity between APF Canada’s website and social media platforms

Desired Skills and Abilities

Successful applicants will have the following qualifications and skills:

 

  • A university or technical institute degree or advanced diploma in communications, digital/new media, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience working on business social channels and engaging with audiences online
  • Fluent in English with exceptional verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in French is an asset
  • Expert knowledge of popular social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn, as well as other dashboards and platforms like Hootsuite, Survey Monkey, and Mail Chimp
  • Expert knowledge of social media analytics and Google Analytics
  • Expert knowledge of HTML and content management systems (Drupal, Wix, WordPress)
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop)
  • Proficient with digital asset design platforms like Figma and Canva
  • Familiar with video and audio editing for web and social media
  • Familiar with the Asia Pacific, its economies, governments, and institutions
  • Independent, organized, and a good team player with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Creative personality with an eagerness to learn
  • Professional, tactful, and mindful of tonality for different audiences and stakeholders
