Description:
As the Senior Writer and Storyteller, you will be responsible for communications and marketing strategies for both digital and print content to promote the BGEAC. As part of the Creative team, this role will coordinate projects, including conducting research, gathering information, and crafting compelling narratives in collaboration with design, digital, video, and production team members. Through the development of high-impact content, this individual will be instrumental in advancing the Gospel message through both online and traditional advertising channels, ultimately driving donations and encouraging support for the mission of BGEAC. As an integral member of the C&CS Team, this individual is expected to perform in a professional manner and deliver high quality outcomes and will help BGEAC carry out its mission and objectives through participation in daily prayer ministry.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conceptualizes and brainstorms with other team members to discover creative avenues for projects, and conducts research of information related to these avenues to enhance the overall concept
- Writes text for direct mail pieces, prayer letters, Decision Magazine, donor/volunteer emails, integrated marketing campaigns, and media relations
- Researches, conducts interviews, and develops strategies for written content for donors, volunteers, and other key stakeholders
- Collaborates with International Headquarters to craft key messaging for Canadian content
- Identifies the scope and requirement for written copy in various project
- Edits or proofreads materials at various stages of development
- Ensures material is factually accurate, biblically and doctrinally sound, and consistent with BGEAC brand and style
- Conducts interviews with internal ministry staff, volunteers, donors, and those who attend our ministry events
- Travels to ministry events or activities to gather information and report on ministry activities, as appropriate
- Provides support with media relations activities, including pitching story ideas to the media and organizing media interviews with staff
Qualifications:
- Qualified applicants must be committed to Christian values and precepts and be in agreement with BGEAC Statement of Faith
- Undergraduate or graduate degree, or a diploma in public relations, communications, journalism or a related field
- 5+ years of writing experience that can include a combination of education and work experience
- Proven experience as an impactful storyteller
- Experience in monitoring current trends, technologies, and approaches in written communications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong writing, creative thinking, and conceptual skills
- Excellent proofreader and editor, with a good command of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Ability to excel writing in various styles, such as storytelling, journalistic, business reporting and digital media
- Efficient and proactive self-starter who can work within tight deadlines and adapt to rapid written assignment changes and vastly different ministry content needs
