Reporting to a Manager, UX Design—UX Product Designers work closely with our product and development partners to shape the future of ATB’s cross-channel digital experiences. Using design thinking, we empower our clients and team members with meaningful, consistent and easy to use experiences throughout their financial journey.
As a key part of our collaborative and inclusive Digital Product Design team, you’ll be working collaboratively across cross-functional design disciplines including research, writing, behaviour design, service design and across ATB’s “areas of expertise” — Everyday Financial Services, ATB Business, ATB Wealth and others.
Please note that this is a temporary position for up to 12 Months.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the rest of the Digital Product Design team to inform product strategy and design experiences that align with user and organizational needs
- Apply best practices, learned experience and research insights effectively
- Gather and analyze business requirements, research, data, and other insights to craft design solutions that meet business outcomes and client objectives
- Transform validated strategies into design specifications, low-fidelity artifacts (user flows, wireframes, etc) and high-fidelity artifacts (mockups, interactive and testable prototypes)
- Work with UX writers and content strategists to define information architecture and effectively inform cohesive, consistent experiences
- Accurately and confidently communicate designs and strategic reasoning to developers, product owners and stakeholders
- Comfortably coach and mentor junior designers in UX core competencies, soft skills and communication
- Confidently provide and incorporate feedback
Accreditation and experience
- Post-secondary UX Design or Design Thinking certification is preferred, though accreditation from third-party organizations is acceptable
- You are a proactive, creative, organized, and deadline-driven team player who excels in creative thinking/problem solving with strong attention to detail
- A proven ability to deliver solutions collaborating in groups as well as working autonomously
- Great verbal, written and visual communications skills
- A tendency to accept and provide design critique with grace and respect
- A foundational understanding of core UX design, design thinking and accessibility principles
- 5+ years of UX design experience reflected in a portfolio
- Familiarity with collaborative design and productivity applications (e.g. Figma, Google Workspace, Miro)
- Familiarity and experience with Agile, Scrum and Lean UX methodologies
- Experience developing and maintaining a design system would be an asset
- Curiosity about emerging technologies. Familiarity with generative AI applications (e.g. ChatGPT or Google Gemin) would be an asset
