Senior Research Assistant

Description:

We are seeking a Senior Research Assistant to provide technical research support associated with the Critical Care Research Group. The Senior Research Assistant provides technical research support and subject matter expertise in support of high-quality research outcomes at all stages of the research life cycle.

This position is based at The Prince Charles Hospital in Chermside.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Undertake research under the supervision of the Director of the Critical Care Research Group and Senior Research Fellow.

• Work with pre-clinical animal models of disease and assist with animal studies when needed.

• Sample and data analysis, such as:

  • Gene and protein expression studies including ELISAs

  • Histology, immunostaining and microscopy

  • Tissue culture

  • Flow cytometry

Safety

• Contribute to the safe and efficient operation of research equipment, including troubleshooting issues with scientific/technical equipment.

• Ensure the appropriate storage, handling and disposal of chemicals, equipment, stores and/or samples/specimens.

Research and administrative support

• Assist with drafting research documentation, including human and animal ethics applications.

• Undertake literature searches and reviews.

• General laboratory maintenance and consumable ordering.

• Assist in the preparation of manuscripts.
