Description:
The Senior Project Architect will be responsible for project management and design for a portfolio of projects, and contribute to the operations of the company by coaching staff and assisting with business processes.
For your project portfolio:
- Manage the entire design process from schematic design through to contract administration, on multiple projects at the same time.
- Manage projects on budget and schedule, with quality and client satisfaction at the forefront.
- Lead the design team, including meeting facilitation, reviews (design, drawings and specifications), and coordinating the design between consultants.
- Present to the clients and other stakeholders, and prepare presentation materials where required.
- Create high quality designs, including producing drawings, renderings, and specifications.
- Responsible for architectural calculations and analysis as needed for designs.
For company operations:
- Manage team members including junior project architects and designers.
- Participate in the review processes, by being the primary reviewer for deliverables.
- Lead discussion for contract negotiations and change orders and implement required documentation.
- Participate in estimation and quotes as needed.
- Participate in resource management.
- Participate or lead the creation of new processes (e.g. resource management, project management) where of interest.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years architecture experience.
- A master’s degree in architecture and registered with AIBC.
- Experience managing projects as the Prime Architect, PMP would be an asset.
- Experience in the design process from concept to completion, including contract administration.
- Ability to be adaptable, look at the details and the bigger picture.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to critically review design details.
- Experience negotiating and managing contracts.
- Experience managing and coaching staff, creating a supportive learning environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Experience applying building codes & bylaws, including knowledge of the BC Building Code.
- Ability to produce well-detailed and accurate construction drawings.
- Experience in wood design and wood construction is an asset.
- Proficient in Rhino, Sketchup Bluebeam, MS office Suite, Adobe.
