Description:
Focused on delivering consistent and predictable planning and schedule management across a diverse and sometimes complex project portfolio. Collaboratively working with project teams in the development, management, updating and reporting of project schedules in all stages of the project lifecycle as a key to driving business value. Ensure activities and processes are aligned with the company’s business practices as well as with team’s goals and objectives.
Specific Accountabilities:
• Provides complex project management-related technical support to multiple project teams by:
• Develop and maintain best in class standards and guidelines related to planning, schedules, schedule integration and schedule validation while integrating with other project controls processes and tools for use by project teams
• Supporting a team of project controls analysts and specialists responsible for developing and achieving specific deliverables for multiple projects in accordance with projects’ scheduling processes
• Ensuring each project team leverages the scheduling processes in the execution of their project management activities
• Interpreting project-specific business requirements still align with the project standards and guidelines, and ensuring project management standards and guidelines are understood by project teams
• Assigning priorities to complex, multiple, competing projects by effectively prioritizing work assignments while managing stakeholder expectations
• Driving for superior organizational results by understanding the industry, the company’s established business metrics, and how they relate to the objectives of the organization
• Preparing reports, presentations and providing support to senior management regarding the state of projects or specific project management issues and programs
• Providing technical advice and expertise related to scheduling/planning/logistics. e.g., Fuse schedule analysis, Earned Schedule, and Schedule Execution Reporting Metrics analysis
• Developing and delivering training programs for schedule development and highlighting the alignment between scheduling best practices and process
Provides operational support and leadership by:
• Championing effective schedule management and earned schedule to achieve business results
• Demonstrating leadership of thought in making projects predictable and competitive
• Facilitating the Scheduling Community of Practice as a scheduling professional and as a representative of the Project Management Office
• Conducting project controls health checks and reviews of schedule quality and effectiveness to ensure alignment to the standards
• Providing planning support and assistance to the development of schedule templates
• Providing support, assistance and leadership to internal staff to facilitate business initiatives
• Leading and/or assisting with the continuous improvement of the enterprise’s scheduling and logistics processes
• Other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• University degree in engineering, business or project management related discipline with 7 or more years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Extensive planning and scheduling experience including a strong understanding of resource loading, schedule risk analysis and earned value management
• Highly skilled and proficient in the use of Primavera P6
• Experience with oil and gas construction projects
• Ability to effectively manage and prioritize workload in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and resolve issues in a timely manner
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. This includes the ability to effectively interact with peers, internal and external stakeholders. Strong written communications abilities, including good spelling and grammar, are essential for this position
