Description:
The Senior Manager integrates planning, identifies technology support needs, and ensures alignment of curriculum and resources across all subject areas within a digital environment. They are also responsible for planning and managing the development and delivery of technical solutions to support divisional priorities, such as the newLearnAlberta.ca platform.
The Senior Manager collaborates with external stakeholders in school authorities and works across branches, sectors, and divisions. The position actively creates connections and maintains networks across ministries and external communities to stay informed about emerging information technology. Furthermore, the Senior Manager brings substantial experience and expertise in technological solutions and agile approaches to effectively design, develop, and deliver enterprise projects and applications.
As the Senior Manager of Digital Content Management and Delivery (DCMD), you will be accountable for the following activities of the ministry:
1. Manage the design, development, and delivery of technical solutions in support of provincial curriculum and learning resources.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and understand the requirements for provincial curriculum and learning resources.
- Oversee agile software teams throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring successful release and support, including priority initiatives like the newLearnAlberta platform.
- Coordinate and manage the custom development of cloud-based applications and platforms, ensuring adherence to required standards and specifications.
- Research and recommend technical specifications for provincial curriculum, learning, and teaching resources to support curriculum implementation and inform development standards.
- Liaise with Ministerial and Government-wide stakeholders to align information technology and explore innovative approaches.
- Manage engagements with teachers, students, and other stakeholders to gather input and ensure the functionality, user-friendliness, and alignment with the newLearnAlberta.ca and related platforms.
- Oversee projects to ensure delivery on time and on budget.
2. Provide Team Leadership.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the software teams, staff, and contracted resources, ensuring their motivation, productivity, and alignment with project goals.
- Foster a collaborative, safe, and innovative work environment that encourages creativity and personal growth.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the software teams, identifying areas for optimization, streamlining processes, and implementing best practices.

3. Manage branch contracts.
- Oversee the procurement of contracts and contracted resources.
- Create Request for Proposals (RFPs) or utilize similar procurement processes.
- Manage the branch budget and ensure contracts and contracted resources align with the budget.
- Monitor and manage contracted resources, including contract amendments, extensions, and terminations.
- Ensure compliance with GOA and Alberta Education contracting policies, procedures, and requirements.
- Foster strong relationships with contract vendors and suppliers.
