Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Managing, Leading and Motivating Staff
- Oversee and supervise a team of clinical staff in varied and complex roles, and in different phases of development, as well and multiple administrative support staff.
- Responsible for recruitment, selection, coaching and mentoring, development and performance management of all members of the SAS team.
- Manages personnel issues that arise, engages in performance planning activities, development plans and addresses staff conduct issues.
- Ensures staff are well trained, competent, supported in their work and encouraged in their development. Coaches the performance of individuals for continuous improvement and is able to stimulate and support creativity and innovation in others through coaching and mentorship.
- Leads staff in the development and implementation of service standards for the unit, in alignment with the standards developed for the SWAS portfolio and the University's overall strategic plan.
Operational Leadership
- Responsible for overseeing all SAS internal processes and procedures, and ensures that all processes are efficient, progressive, promote access and comply with all University policy requirements.
- Works with provincial and federal funding agencies to ensure student applications for disability related grants and funding are processed, managed, and reconciled appropriately.
- Working closely with the SAS Manager, Accessible Testing, ensures that exam accommodations and supports are implemented and reviewed on a regular basis.
- Conducts regular reviews and audits of SAS and U of C processes, identifies areas of concerns, and provides recommendation to the Director, SWAS.
- Works with the Director, SWAS to identify trends and opportunities to improve services and access for students with disabilities; Makes recommendation regarding annual resource and budget allocations.
- Responsible for preparing annual reports to the provincial government, and internal U of C stakeholders on student demographics, accommodation and supports and overall services provided through SAS.
- Ensures all analysis and reporting efforts are compliant with university policy, processes, FOIP and the Health Information Act.
- Ensures that SAS maintains an accurate referral network both internally and externally to support students with disabilities.
- Works closely with SES Marketing and Communications team to ensure all communications are accurate and accessible to students.
