Bachelor's degree in math, business, engineering, science, or a related field with relevant experience.
Five or more years of progressive experience working in energy markets; knowledge and understanding of power markets, market operations and strategies, asset and outage optimization, power system planning and operations, regulatory affairs, energy resourcing, transmission assessments, energy trading, settlements, contract management and market rules. Previous experience in Bulk Electricity System (BES) operations, knowledge of impacts on price and volatility, market drivers, risk management principles and practices.
Experience with portfolio optimization, maximizing energy available for production. Strong market analysis: day ahead and real-time Ontario market activities to improve market and commercial operations, physical trading activities during real-time, and day ahead.
Proven drive for results; highly motivated, detail-oriented, and analytical individual. Proven research and analysis experience; ability to assess opportunities, identify risks and make recommendations on priorities— with a strong understanding of market operations and market rules.
Proficient technical skills and experience with applications and programming to build efficiencies in day-to-day business operations.
Effective leader who motivates and engages others through fostering a collaborative team environment; people-orientated with strong interpersonal skills, builds and maintains relationships across the business with various stakeholders internally and externally, and at all levels.
Good working relationships with the Independent Electricity Systems Operator (IESO), Hydro One, energy stakeholders, and regulators.
