Description:

The BC NDP is seeking an experienced graphic designer to join us ahead of the next provincial election in October 2024. You’ll be an important part of our Creative team, helping to create branded materials for our 93 local candidates in every riding across BC, along with products for our central campaign. This is a unique opportunity for a designer looking to expand their portfolio and experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-focused campaign environment.

Responsibilities

The Sr Graphic Designer is a member of the Creative team, reporting to the Creative Director. Responsibilities include:

  • Working within brand guidelines to help iterate print and digital products for 93 local candidate campaigns on brand and on time.
  • Create compelling and consistent design assets for both print and digital platforms, including social media, print advertising and digital advertising.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery while maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Creative, Field, Digital and other departments to understand project requirements and deliver creative solutions.
  • Incorporate feedback from various stakeholders to refine and improve designs.
  • Prepare and optimize files for both digital and print production, ensuring accurate color profiles, resolutions, and formats.
  • Work with the production manager and with vendors, printers, and other external partners to produce high-quality final products.
  • Working closely with the Production Manager to help ensure all materials meet brand standards and ElectionsBC requirements
  • Helping to provide quality control for products generated by Jr designers.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements & Skills

Technical Skills

  • Expert knowledge of graphic design principles, typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of creative and technical skills in visual design.
  • 2-5 years of experience in graphic design, with particular emphasis on print design.
  • Expert-level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products, particularly Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign
  • Familiarity with Canva, Asana, Dropbox, Slack, Google Suite.
  • Understanding of printing processes and requirements for different types of print materials.
  • Basic knowledge of digital media formats, resolutions, and file types.
  • Some experience with motion graphics and other digital media products is an asset.
  • Experience with multilingual products and translation is a BIG plus.
  • Experience working on political campaigns, or in other similarly fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline-focused work environments.
