Reporting to the Director, Central Accounting & Hyperion Support, the Senior Financial Analyst will be a member of the Financial Operations, Centre of Excellence Team that is responsible for centralizing, optimizing, and maintaining financial operational processes; leveraging technology, standardization, and expertise to deliver meaningful solutions for Sun Life Canada
Your responsibilities will include:
Participation in accounting and general ledger projects (ie. IFRS adoption, ledger upgrades/conversions, etc.)
Support of the monthly ledger close and expense processes across SL Canada, including preparation/approval of journal entries, process governance, chargeback/segmentation, and account reconciliations
Coordination, consolidation, and review of the annual budget cycle for SL Canada and our Canadian business partners
Review of monthly Canadian Operations expenses and completion of ad-hoc analysis to support senior leader reviews
Support reporting optimization team by gathering business requirements
Key contributor to a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team environment
Continuously assess and identify process improvements
We're looking for someone with:
College/University degree and/or relevant experience in a related field
Advanced technology skills
Ability to develop and maintain collaboration tools, such as SharePoint and OneNote
Strong problem solving and robust data analytic skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written)
Ability to prioritize and effectively organize tasks to meet tight deadlines
Energy as a self-starter who can work with minimum supervision and achieve objectives through strong collaboration
Discretion to deal with confidential information
Assets:
Business knowledge and experience related to the insurance and/or financial services industry
Experience in a medium to large size organization with multiple divisions and lines of business
Strong understanding and experience in expense management, Hyperion, and/or business intelligence (BI) tools
