Description:
The Senior Finance and Forecasting Manager, Business Partnering CVRM and EB, plays a critical role on the Biopharmaceutical Canada Finance and Forecasting team, establishing relationships and delivering strategic finance decision-making in a complex and dynamic environment.
The incumbent will provide valuable and insightful financial and business analysis to support commercial initiatives and planning cycle, partner and engage with senior leaders, while identifying risks and opportunities to the business.
This role includes creating and delivering on strategic financial initiatives to achieve revenue and expenses deliverables prioritising the most effective use of resources. Business partners are finance leaders, demonstrating deep engagement with the business and strong collaborators with colleagues across a cross-functional team, including sales, market access, marketing and medical functions.
The role reports to the Director of Finance, Business Partnering and will be a key advisor to members of the Biopharma Canada Leadership Team.
The focus for this role is:
Lead and deliver financial oversight, both revenue and expenses, for the assigned Therapeutic Area (Franchise) in support to the Business unit, whilst demonstrating strong business acumen and developing important relationships.
Develop deep best-practice knowledge within your business area and be accountable for business decision outcomes.
Supporting the needs of the Commercial, Supply and Financial arms of the business for your assigned Therapeutic Area (TA), you will merge therapeutic area knowledge with pharmaceutical market factors to identify key assumptions that will support the revenue forecasts.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Partnering & Decision Support
Working proactively with Business Unit Stakeholders to understand current and future financial information
Being actively involved in the review and development of short- & long-term commercial strategy
develop robust financial forecasts & models to support the priorities of the unit
Build and apply strong business acumen to engage with business unit
Works with the business to understand problems and how to best prioritize projects and products
Challenges business partner perspective (where appropriate), grounded in facts and data
Supports launch products by handling uncertainty and risks associated with product forecasts
Engages with international finance and forecasting leaders to provide insights and benchmarking
Business Performance
Works closely with the Therapeutic Area Franchise Head to ensure accuracy of financial forecasts, both revenue and expenses, and using a good understanding of the business model and financial drivers, to challenge and influence the key cost drivers and assumptions.
Develops reliable operational and financial forecasts while ensuring integrity of the data to promote a high-quality forecast submission.
Collaborates within team and business partners to track revenue and expense performance and articulate financial impact of risks and/or opportunities arising from variances within the budget
Highlights sensitivities & risks and delivering timely, accurate and granular reporting and robust commentary of the TA’s performance, linking business drivers to actual spend and forecast.
Understands brand assumptions (price, competitor activity, access/regulatory changes) and initiatives and help build the brand strategic plan by challenging the business and providing the financial point of view
Understands competitor positions and products to analyse and question / challenge budget submissions for sales and costs to ensure submissions are accurate, justifiable and sound
Supports the Senior Manager, FP&A with the financial planning cycle in the area of accountability
Proactively partners with the business to drive cost excellence through lean leadership, efficiencies along with simplification and standardization.
Assists in the delivery of robust and rigorous financial analysis of risks and benefits for major business initiatives to help support data driven decision making.
Delivers business acumen and financial education and awareness to teams through proactive engagement and collaboration.
Leads financial performance reviews for area of responsibility for key business and Finance review meetings.
Engages with Finance Director to improve and/or simply working practices/processes
Leads monthly business review (MBR) meetings with TA colleagues to flag revised revenue assumptions and make adjustments to monthly supply chain forecasts
Provides latest estimate on revenue forecasts on a monthly basis
Provides rationale for gaps between value (budget) and volume (supply) forecasts on a monthly basis
Drives year end and month end closure activities for the Therapeutic area

Essential:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or any other relevant Business discipline.
8+ years progressive experience in finance and/or accounting and forecasting with a minimum of 3 years in a CPG/Pharmaceutical environment (or equivalent)
Extensive experience in fostering and maintaining internal partner relationships and management
Solid understanding of Canadian biopharmaceutical or related industry
Ability to engage cross-functional working groups and teams
Experienced in partnering with other functions to achieve success.
Strong planning and systematic thinking, including project management and budgeting
Credibility at the most senior executive levels
Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing abilities
Excellent written skills in English, including enhanced presentation skills
Problem solving – ability to resolve conflict and deal with a wide range of complex problems independently
Ability to explain and provide context around statistical methodology
Ability to build partnerships, influence decisions, work in a collaborative style
Maintains flexibility in fast-paced environment and continually evolves to meet changing business needs

Desirable:
Prior exposure to SAP or similar ERPs.
Drive Performance and is independent in thinking.
CPA, CMA, and/or MBA is preferred
