Senior Credit Risk Officer

 

Description:

We are seeking a Senior Credit Risk Officer, who will have direct oversight of all enterprise credit activities with respect to the credit
function for Wholesale Power Trading, Gas Supply, Procurement and Major Accounts. This position will evaluate and report on
credit-related risks inherent in existing power and gas trading activities and develop strategies to ensure credit risks are adequately
identified, measured and managed.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in close collaboration with the Senior Risk Management Officer to implement, manage and maintain the information

technology system that supports the compliance, credit and market risk related activities of the Department.

  • Using information technology systems and other tools available, monitor Manitoba Hydro/Centra Gas credit exposure resulting

from Wholesale Power Trading and Gas Supply functions.

  • Evaluate and review new and existing counterparties, including the review of financial statements, and various research

reports

  • Liaise with EM Strategies & Wholesale Marketing and Legal Services in reviewing and providing recommendations regarding

the credit provisions of all master agreement and stand-alone wholesale power contracts.

  • Continually assess and, update all credit risk policies and procedures to conform to changes in industry and/or regulatory

requirements.

  • Manage and maintain effective relationships with counterparties, exchanges, credit professionals and third party vendors in

the North American energy industry, keeping informed on current credit practices, trends and products to support credit
monitoring.

  • Liaise with Treasury and Legal Services with respect to collateral requirements resulting from energy trading activities and

other day to day operations.

  • Direct the Credit Analyst in day-to-day operations, such as evaluating, monitoring and reporting on counterparties and

exposures.

  • Build strong, effective and collaborative relationships with Wholesale Power Trading, EM Strategies & Wholesale Power

Marketing, SCM Procurement Operations, Gas Supply and Transmission Services.

  • Educate internal and external parties for the purpose of negotiating effective collateral arrangements and integrating

centralized collateral management within the Credit Risk Management area.

  • Provide Credit Risk Management expertise on various projects teams.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year bachelor degree in business, economics, engineering, law or other relevant discipline from a university of

recognized standing and 7 years of progressively responsible experience demonstrating the skills and competencies required
by this position.

  • A CPA, CFA and/or CCP designation would be considered an asset.
