Description:
As a Senior Cloud Automation Team Lead your key area of responsibility will be steering a team in developing and sustaining robust Terraform modules and automation tools for efficient cloud infrastructure management. You will champion the maintenance of a cohesive platform for Kubernetes workloads, ensuring adherence to best practices in security and configuration management. You will work with a strategic mindset and a commitment to mentoring engineers and uphold high standards in automation that drive the company's cloud strategy forward.
How you'll make an impact:

- Direct and manage cloud automation projects; ensure the development and implementation of robust, scalable infrastructure as code with the assigned team that meets operational and business requirements.
- Align to business goals and manage the team with regards to task assignments, work arrangements and other Cloud Automation Engineering Department expectations.
- Ensure work progress stays on schedule and updates stakeholders on project status.
- Install, manage, measure and change an Agile development process, e.g., SCRUM, Kanban.
- Conduct comprehensive testing and code reviews to ensure that code quality is maximized and best-practices are followed.
- Lead and participate in development of prototypes, minimum viable products and PoCs.
- Appropriately document system design and architecture such that it is easy to understand, maintain and extend.
- Conduct team meetings relating to communicating employee tasks and continuing expectations.
- Provide expert leadership and guidance to the team as an SME.
- Assist with the hiring process and new team member training as required.
- Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports:
- Provide direction, coaching and mentorship to the team.
- Engage in the development of the team by coaching, providing feedback, identifying areas of growth and training opportunities.
- Collaborate and support employees during the performance management process, meeting KPAs and career development planning.
- Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
What you'll bring to this role:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or related
- 5-8 years of DevOps or Software Development team tasked with building and maintaining infrastructure at scale on a public cloud provider
- 3 - 5 years of required supervisory experience managing a DevOps or Software Development team tasked with building and maintaining infrastructure at scale on a public cloud provider
- High accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
- A strong team-player with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
- Technical competence using software programs, including, but not limited to, Google Suite for business (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
- Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable in a flat organization.
- Strong project management skills; able to identify needs, develop effective solutions, and manage projects through to completion
- Possess a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.
- Strategic mindset, has a keen sense of priorities, along with an ability to pivot as the landscape changes.
