Description:
- Consulting with clients on complex losses, providing guidance and assistance with emphasis on claims preparation, submission, and resolution;
- Analyzing claims and coverage issues while guiding the claims process;
- Researching legal decisions and judgments on insurance contracts and claims as required;
- Preparing reports on claims disputes for management review and guidance;
- Making recommendations to clients as appropriate for alternative dispute resolution;
- Taking the lead position with Account Managers and Brokers to resolve coverage disputes with insurers;
- Coordinating and attending claims settlement meetings with clients and insurers;
- Developing and coordinating a claims resolution team working with legal counsel or others as may be appropriate;
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of quality control standards;
- Providing general guidance and support to the Claims Management Team as required and approved by the Regional Claims Manager/Leader;
- Developing and maintaining working collaborations claims professionals;
- Maintaining accurate time management records for billing purposes;
- Leading by example by demonstrating and sharing with all lines of business the importance of best practices; and
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
How this opportunity is different
As a Senior Claims Consultant, Property & Casualty with our Vancouver team, you will be responsible for the process of reporting, documenting, and settlement of claims on behalf of major clients to an insurance company. This role will assist with all aspects of the client service program in support of responsive and efficient client service delivery.
Skills and experience that will lead to success
- Minimum 10+ years of claims handling experience in the property/casualty sector is required;
- General insurance experience is an asset;
- Ability to work collaboratively as a key member a team and independently with minimum supervision;
- Client relationship focused
- Completion of Post Secondary and/or C.I.P. and/or CRM Designations; and
- Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development including insurance courses/certifications/designations (I.e. General Insurance License/ Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) or Certified Risk Management (CRM)
