Description:
The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. This mandate includes negotiating major financial arrangements with the federal government, providing analysis and advice to the Financial Management Board, and ensuring that financial and information resources are managed effectively, efficiently and economically. This mandate also includes the recruitment and retention of a competent public service that is representative of the people it serves and the development of programs and services that effectively serve the human resource needs of the public service.
As a Senior Accounting Clerk you would play a vital role in ensuring that employees' onboarding documentation and payroll changes are processed accurately and in a timely manner. You would be providing financial processing advice to Accounting Clerks on your team, and first level of escalation from transactions of an unusual nature and must determine appropriate resolution to issues or escalated issues to the team for resolution. You would also assist your supervisor in mentoring Accounting Clerks.
To be successful in this role you will typically need to have a Business Administration Diploma or at least courses in the financial/accounting field, plus two (2) years of experience in full cycle financial transaction and one (1) year of payroll transaction processing. Equivalencies will be considered.
