Description:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Accounting & Finance team in Vancouver, Canada. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the individual will be responsible for the following corporate accounting functions:
Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly close activities, including journal entry preparation, balance sheet account reconciliations, and review and analysis of relevant aspects of the balance sheet, cash flow and P&L
- Review and/or prepare monthly transactions/Journal entries
- Review and/or prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation final reports
- Review and/or prepare consolidation entries
- Provide IFRS guidance on accounting treatment or accounting implications (as needed) on any new activities or specific transactions
- Prepare the group consolidation, and supporting working papers;
- Prepare accounting memos for new and/or complex transactions;
- Support the preparation of annual Canadian tax returns;
- Coordinate with the Company’s external auditors, tax advisors, and various other service providers;
- Ad hoc duties and tasks as assigned by the Corporate Controller.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or other relevant field
- Canadian CPA designation (CA, CGA, CMA and CPA) or equivalents required
- 5+ years of previous accounting experience in medium or large size companies or 3 years of public practice accounting firm is required
- Advanced excel skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), with proven ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders
- Experience working for Public Companies is preferred
- Experience in the mining sector is preferred
