Charton Hobbs (CH), established in 1925, is one of Canada’s leading privately-owned wine and spirits agencies, dedicated to advancing the wine and spirits markets by representing select producers and offering premium products and branded experiences to consumers nationwide.
This Sales Representative role, reporting to the ON Sales Manager, is a contract position for approximately 18 months to cover maternity leave. The primary objective of this role is to increase the sales and market share of the Charton Hobbs portfolio within the assigned territory, maintaining and developing key partner relationships with retail stores and restaurants.
Primary Responsibilities:
Retail Sales Responsibilities:
- Drive sales of the Charton Hobbs portfolio within the territory.
- Exceed assigned quarterly and annual sales objectives and KPI targets.
- Increase distribution coverage, with a focus on core brands.
- Maximize opportunities across all sales channels, emphasizing fridge and shelf placements in top-performing stores.
- Organize trade days for supplier and manager visits as per company best practices.
- Pitch and execute quarterly programming with retail chain store managers.
- Develop and adhere to a 6-week route plan to ensure efficient territory coverage.
Restaurant Sales Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance existing restaurant relationships.
- Identify and secure new opportunities for features and by-the-glass pours.
Administrative & Additional Duties:
- Maintain daily records through the CHG XRM system, ensuring accurate activity logging.
- Ensure the account database is accurate and up-to-date in XRM.
- Manage expenses within company guidelines and maximize available budgets.
- Participate in trade shows, supplier dinners, and events when required (some evenings and weekends may be necessary).
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 2+ years of outside sales experience, preferably in wine, spirits, or liquor sales.
- Completed WSET Level 2 (or a minimum of WSET Level 1, with a willingness to complete Level 2 if hired).
- Background in retail or restaurant wine sales is highly preferred.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in business, sales, or marketing is preferred.
- Strong sales acumen, with excellent communication skills (written & verbal).
- Confident presenter, adaptable to different audiences.
- Physical ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds and handle heavy POS materials.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to own vehicle (car allowance and gas covered).
- Valid passport (for potential supplier visits or events).
