Description:
- Curate and sell lists of upcoming books to national retailers.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders across the organization and key external contacts to understand, communicate, and achieve sales goals.
- Provide exceptional customer service to national retailers, ensuring they receive all required information, sales materials, and marketing assets at the right time.
- Monitor inventory levels, create forecasts and make order recommendations to maintain appropriate supply levels.
- Act as a liaison between internal Marketing and Publicity departments and national retailers to communicate plans and requirements.
- Provide feedback on manuscripts, covers, and positioning with an eye to trends in the Canadian book market.
- Participate in trend analysis and leverage customer segmentation to provide internal and external stakeholders with insights into customer behavior.
- Initiate and monitor results for both in store and online promotions with an eye to differentiating between the physical and online Canadian market and customer.
Experience and knowledge you’ll bring (qualifications):
- Two or more years of experience in sales, marketing, or a related field, preferably with a focus on children’s book publishing.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with an ability to prioritize and balance multiple responsibilities and competing deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and thrive in a complex and ever-evolving work environment.
- An aptitude and enthusiasm for analytics paired with experience using sales reporting tools.
- An insatiable curiosity and appetite for self-directed learning, experimentation, and creativity.
- A solutions-focused approach with an eye towards continuous improvement.

- Ability to work with confidential information using sound judgement and discretion.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer service-oriented approach to relationship management.
- Proficiency with Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and online collaboration tools such as WebEx, Google Docs, and Microsoft Teams.
- Enhanced knowledge, awareness, and experience with the culture and history of any community that has faced marginalization is considered a plus.
- Knowledge of the Canadian book market, with a focus on children’s books, is a plus.
