We invite you to exercise your talents and experience by joining a team of Sheriffs with the SCAN Program.

As a SCAN Investigator, you will investigate assigned complaints at properties of alleged illegal activities such as the production, sale, or use of illegal drugs; prostitution; child sexual abuse, and gang or organized crime activities under the SCAN Act. You will also be required to function in a complex integrated law enforcement environment.

Your extensive knowledge of specialized investigative techniques is essential in order to effectively conduct detailed, extensive plainclothes investigations, including the use of covert surveillance techniques and equipment, in order to obtain all available information and intelligence and compile detailed legal investigative case management files for presentation in court proceedings. You will function in a complex, sometimes rapidly changing environment and must be able to make informed decisions based on sound investigative methods even if presented with conflicting information.

Qualifications

University graduation in a related field plus four years of progressively responsible related experience.

Equivalency: related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
