South Bow is looking for a Safe Work Procedures Specialist to provide Health & Safety support and expertise to enable our business to manage risk and protect the wellbeing of our people.

Reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health & Safety, this position will focus on supporting the continuous improvement of the organization’s safe work procedures. The successful individual will have a good understanding of legislative requirements governing health and safety at the federal, provincial, and state levels, health and safety best practices; and operational management systems.

 

What You Will Do
 

  • Accountable for the development of standardized health and safety, safe work procedures.
  • Consult with multidisciplinary stakeholders to ensure South Bow’s health and safety procedural needs are met.
  • Interpret and provide guidance on occupational health and safety regulations, internal specifications and standards, and best practices
  • Acts as liaison with the intent of sharing best practices, resolving escalated issues
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to continually enhance and execute on our safety vision, strategy, and tactics
  • Ability to identify high energy hazards, correct safety deficiencies upon discovery, and take action to reduce risk
  • Maintain Incident Command System (ICS) qualifications in order to support incident response
  • May conduct field visits to station/pipeline work sites to ensure safe work procedures are fit for purpose, maintained, and supported
  • Provide a high level of customer service by ensuring effective processes are in place and providing health and safety support across the organization, to help facilitate business decisions.
  • Foster a positive safety culture by building human and organizational performance to strengthen our cultural defenses and develop error-tolerant systems to better protect our people.
  • Provide support to training, incident investigations, emergency response, audits, and assurance activities as required.
  • Other tasks as required
