Description:

Reporting to the head of Strategic Way Performance Management, the Risk Manager will mainly focus on assessing and limiting risk inherent to outage and online nuclear operations on behalf of our Client. You will ensure success by implementing robust risk management strategies against potential disruptions and setbacks. You will have a strong understanding of risk management and its application in multi-million dollar projects, preferably within the Nuclear Industry. You will plan, coordinate, and document the risk management process. Using your strong facilitation and quantitative analysis skills, you will ensure that risks are identified, evaluated, quantified, mitigated, and monitored following client policies and procedures. You will work with client functional areas to identify areas for improvement to increase efficiency and strengthen business processes.

Deliverables

  • Maintain a risk register and ensure that the risk profile(s) are accurate and current.
  • Lead risk identification, assessment, and mitigation efforts throughout the lifecycle of nuclear outage and work management planning, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance are paramount.
  • Collaborate closely with Client stakeholders to analyze plans, specifications, and site conditions for potential risk factors
  • Develop and implement tailored risk management plans that address the unique challenges, including safety hazards, regulatory compliance, and environmental impact, while also managing contractual aspects to mitigate legal and financial risks.
  • Proactively minimize budget overruns, schedule delays, and quality issues through strategic risk mitigation measures.
  • Continuously monitor progress and risk indicators, adjusting mitigation strategies as needed to maintain client business objectives
  • Facilitate open communication and collaboration among diverse client teams, contractors, and regulatory authorities to ensure alignment and business plan success.
  • Responsible for the development of SMART actions, action tracking and resolution
  • Hold action owners accountable to meet target completion dates while ensuring professional and effective communications; including initiating and leading Task Analysis Meetings (TAMs) to drive resolution, when required.
  • Administer the risk management process and prepare risk management plans.
  • Implement risk management activities in compliance with best business practice and corporate procedures.
  • Analyzing risk and safety data to determine trends and key areas of focus, and use available OPEX to assist in early identification and mitigation of risks
  • Utilize corporate systems and tools to support processes.
  • Prepare internal and external progress reports to multiple stakeholders.
  • Generate lessons learned reports relating to risks.
  • Conduct risk evaluation using both qualitative and quantitative analysis methods.
  • Understand and adhere to the Client’s safety management system, policies, procedures, and values to maintain a culture of safety excellence.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education, such as a degree or diploma in engineering or a related technical field, and/or relevant combination of experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in risk management and 8 years of combined experience in the Engineering and Power industry, either in Project Management, Contract Management, Engineering Management, Project Controls Management; direct experience in the Nuclear industry considered an asset
  • Experience working with Active Risk Manager (ARM), and/or Primavera risk analysis (PRA).
  • High degree of proficiency with tools such as Excel and Power BI to analyse large data sets and focus on key areas for communication to senior and executive leadership.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing risks on complex projects; Previous experience working on a large scale projects (+ $20 million)
  • Excellent analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent facilitation skills.
  • Persuasive strength with ability to motivate and lead.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Deep understanding of the nuclear work management and outage planning cycle and associated risks specific to the nuclear industry, considered an asset
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to think strategically.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, subcontractors, all levels of management and team members.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and deliver accurate and reliable results.
  • Understanding Client business strategies, goals, and requirements.
