Description:
The Regional Supervisor Community Corrections position requires strong supervisory skills with good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment. The position requires ability to interpret warrants correctly and write all court reports. Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications are required for the position. The position must be able to train staff and have experience maintaining an office environment or be willing to learn. The position must also have financial management skills or be willing to learn. The position requires familiarity with court etiquette and proceedings.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized post-secondary diploma in Social Science or related field with four (4) years of experience in Community Corrections or a field that deals with community members in need of assistance. This job also requires a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a supervisory position.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktitut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
