Description:
This role will be supervised by the in-scope supervisor and the incumbent will report to the Director of the RAO. The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance in completing educational programs for grade six, eight and nine learners. The programming blends the core work of the observatory with its connections to the surrounding environment and Indigenous traditional knowledge. The programming is a piece of our Convergence Project. This project is into its second year of development. This position will be an excellent opportunity to develop artistic and written story-telling and research skills, which will involve speaking to elders and other Indigenous community members, and information gathering from the literature and the internet.
Successful candidate must have own transportation to and from the Observatory, which is located twenty minutes southwest of Calgary. This role is part of the Indegenous Summer Student Program (ISSP) which runs from May 1, 2023 to August 31 2023. The successful incumbent is expected to work a full-time 35 hour work week. Hours may vary with occasional evening and weekend work
