This exciting role provides Project Management of capital construction projects across Western Canada, focusing on the Lower Mainland, BC and Vancouver Island areas. You will be responsible for the full project life cycle as well as working with the business to understanding the project scope.

This position is a hybrid opportunity and can be based out of the Lower Mainland, BC or Vancouver Island, BC.

What you’ll do:

You will support the Co-operative Retailing System (CRS) as a subject matter expert, trusted partner and point of contact for construction projects within an assigned zone. Understand business objectives and provide input into project scope to meet the objectives. Skillfully lead or support project stakeholders through the full construction project life cycle of project initiation, conceptual design, costing and approvals, engineering, contract procurement, construction and post construction. Accountable for the successful execution of assigned projects through the use of CRS and industry best practices for safety, design, project governance and vendor management.

  • Utilize established best practices to understand business objectives and conduct preliminary site investigations. Develop project requirements and initial scope including site and floor plan drawings. Provide recommendations to allocate internal resources as required. Inform and support feasibility lite approvals.
  • Utilize risk management and construction contract procurement strategies, tailored to project timing and complexity. Oversee the completion of detailed conceptual drawings required to clearly define the proposed scope of work including site plans, floor plans, interior and exterior elevations, smallware and merchandising layouts, finish plans, security plans and data layouts. Obtain preliminary regulatory approvals and ensure code requirements will be met. Coordinate the efficient approval of conceptual drawings and ensure clarity of the scope of work across all stakeholders.
  • Develop the comprehensive capital budget for use. Consider, research and present scope alternatives to address budget constraints without compromising quality or the business objectives. Provide input or lead small negotiations and obtain quotes from preferred suppliers, consultants and contractors.
  • Using established best practices and preferred partners, you will finalize the contract procurement method and procure engineering consultants.. Develop the list of contractors invited to tender based on established best practices in contractor management. Review and approve engineered drawings to ensure business objectives, cost controls, and CRS design standards are met
  • Plan and lead pre-construction meetings to establish and clarify schedule, budget, change management, risk mitigation, safety requirements, deliverables, and roles and responsibilities. Coordinate the timely procurement and delivery of owner supplied products and equipment. Regularly attend construction sites to monitor project progress, clarify design requirements, and manage contractor performance. Provide guidance and expertise to stakeholders on the execution of construction contracts to ensure projects are completed within contract. Be a trusted, expert owner representative on site.
