Description:
Reporting to the AVP, Transformation and Strategy, the Project Manager assumes responsibility for hands-on management of assigned projects. The Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency and alignment with Osler's strategies, commitments and goals (e.g. strategic plan and/or quality plan and/or IM/IT strategic plan and/or annual business plan). The Project Manager is expected to attain a detailed understanding of the project and the desired project objectives. This role will utilize project management methodologies to lead the project, and project team, through all project gates.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for providing internal consulting expertise to business owners and executive sponsors to help convert business objectives and goals into scope deliverables that are specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound
- Facilitation of the definition of the project scope, goals, deliverables, budget and outcomes
- Work with internal customers to support the development of a business cases
- Ensure that all mandatory project artifacts, as defined by the PMO, are complete, current and stored appropriately
- Manage scope change through proper approved PMO change management channels to implement and manage project change and interventions to achieve project outputs
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects and scope including project logs, issues, action items, risks, queries, change management and escalation processes
- Development and tracking of project schedule in MS Project
- Creation of resource requirements and assignment of tasks to resources
- Define and follow project gating for the project
- Minimize exposure and risk on projects and ensure legislative requirements are met
- Track status of budget, timelines and performance to plans
- Provide status reports to the project team, project sponsor and PMO
- Effectively apply appropriate methodology and enforce project standards
- Ownership and accountability to bring project in on budget, on time and within scope
- Use elicitation techniques to develop/confirm business requirements and help validate design through process flow diagrams and prototyping via wireframes
- Prepare and participate in delivery of presentations to sponsors, stakeholders and advisory groups
- Actively contribute to the development of project management capacity across the organization (providing education to peers/other by developing/providing education/training of staff)
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of RFPs, RFIs, RFSs, RFQs
- Project evaluations and assessment of results
