Project Communications Specialist

 

Description:

As our City undergoes significant asset renewal and encourages new development, the
Administration Department requires a Project Communications Specialist that will provide specific
project communications support for major renewal work in our water and sewer infrastructure. This
role offers opportunities for on-the-job training with existing Communications staff and may lead
to a future opportunity within the City for a more long-term/permanent position to provide support
for ongoing infrastructure and community renewal efforts.

What you’ll do…

  • Support the City’s Communications and Operations staff in information sharing around

ongoing infrastructure replacement work;

  • Support the execution of the Communications Plan for the BIG project and coordinate with

project contractors to ensure timely community updates;

  • Field questions from the public and engage in community outreach, including door-

knocking and other methods, in affected neighborhoods, while representing the City in a
friendly and professional manner;

  • Coordinate community events, as needed, to provide updates on the BIG Project;

 

  • Prepare and adapt materials (e.g., graphics, videos, social media posts, etc.) as needed to

support project communications;

  • Monitor and update production schedules for various City communications and

engagement materials, including print publications, newsletters, posters, utility bill inserts,
signage, and advertising;

  • Prepare road closure and traffic disruption notices and send to public via social media and

other channels;

  • Manage project updates to specific sections of the City website and respond to website-

related queries from interested, affected, or relevant parties;

  • Provide comprehensive support for updating operational plans and quarterly reporting and

assist in compiling and tracking service metrics for departments and programs related to
the BIG project;

  • Provide BIG project reporting information to Operations and Administrative staff as needed

for the purpose of grant reporting; and,

  • Perform other related duties where qualified.
