Strategic Portfolio Management
- Works with technology leaders and teams to manage large and complex, strategic, multi-year technology programs led by the Enterprise Architecture team from planning through execution to outcome achievement.
- Establishes and maintains relationships with technology leaders and other stakeholders to ensure a common understanding, input and support for strategic program goals and objectives.
- Stand up program management structure and process to drive effective program execution.
- Provide meaningful program reporting to drive performance, including integrated review on all program activities to stakeholders and executives, progress against the stated objectives/KPI’s, along with any material risks and issues.
- Reviews and assesses planned and in-progress work and inter-dependencies, call out risks, issues, constraints, and dependencies that may impact delivery, and bring forward recommendations such as when to pause, defer and/or re-pivot work to balance scope and delivery against program targets.
- Ensure consistent use of delivery methodologies, templates, reports, dashboards, estimate breakdowns, and presentations, to improve communication and harmonization of efforts.
- Understand and adhere to Canada initiative governance process.
- Monitor any identified dependencies on work outside of the technology programs and highlight any schedule or scope variances in that work that may impact program workstreams and/or objectives.
- Actively promotes and influences the need for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing to improve program management effectiveness.
What you will bring
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Senior IT Project Manager or IT Program Manager in a complex environment. This may be in financial services, health care, or other highly complex/regulated environments.
- Proven track record working with an Enterprise Architecture team on complex, multi-year enterprise initiatives such as application portfolio rationalization, technology currency management and tools implementation.
- Awareness of Enterprise Architecture governance processes
- Certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PfMP, SAFe, Scrum and/or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with colleagues or external stakeholders to positively influence outcomes quickly and confidently.
- Demonstrated ability to look at programs objectively from an organizational perspective.
- Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity, embrace change and seek clarity through a variety of available stakeholders and resources.
- Demonstrated ability to be resilient and creative in the face of difficulty; engaging with others to find a way forward.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities at once in a fast paced/demanding environment.
- Is passionate about not only project management but the business, technology, and user experience, loves to learn and champion new ideas with others, and works with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Strong leadership capability, executing as appropriate in the areas of responsibility.
- Previous experience working with an Agile delivery framework would be an asset.
