Description:

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Plasma Nurse to join their Collections Operations Ontario team on a regular part-time basis. This is a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative, mission-driven environment that directly supports Canada’s Lifeline—collecting plasma to ensure patients have reliable access to life-saving treatments.

As a Plasma Nurse, you will play a key role in plasma collection operations, from screening and registering donors to providing information and ensuring donors have a positive experience. Your contribution will directly impact the safety and quality of plasma collected, ensuring it meets all regulatory and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct donor registration and confidential screening to assess eligibility.
  • Communicate effectively with donors, providing clear information, guidance, and support about the plasma donation process.
  • Lead and coach donor centre staff during collection events when required, ensuring smooth operational flow and adherence to procedures.
  • Assist with plasma collection, ensuring safety and comfort for donors at all times.
  • Participate in setting up booths, tables, and equipment for mobile donor events within the community.
  • Provide administrative support for all program activities, ensuring compliance with regulations and good manufacturing practices.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing program with an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in Ontario.
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR is considered an asset.
  • Experience as a preceptor or with staff coaching is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 10 kg (22 lbs) when required.
