Plant Controller

 

Description:

Serve as a vital member within the core plant management and Finance teams. Collaborate with the Plant management team to optimize plant profitability. Execute and oversee all accounting and financial activities related to the plant, ensuring the financial integrity of plant operations. This role demands a hands-on approach, requiring the successful candidate to operate at both a detailed task level and provide support at higher management levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive financial information, analysis, and support to key stakeholders (Plant Manager, Plant management team, Senior Controller).
  • Proactively evaluate product profitability, identifying and implementing improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate the preparation and review of plant budgets/forecasts in collaboration with management.
  • Manage the preparation and submission of plant capital spending projects for management review and approval.
  • Actively engage in plant operations through internal meetings, interactions with staff, floor walks, and safety advocacy.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls, ensuring compliance with ARP policies, procedures, and semi-annual ASX certification.
  • Drive plant profitability improvement initiatives through commercial activity, cost leakage elimination, and cost reduction programs.
  • Conduct financial analysis to monitor costs in key areas (volumes, margins, scrap, utilities, labor, R&M, inventory, etc.).
  • Analyze plant income statements and inventory transactions, driving continuous improvement
  • Develop and review designated plant balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Monitor plant inventory movements to identify and resolve financial exposure or process issues.
  • Process debit/credit memo transactions and inter-company transfers.
  • Review and confirm A/P voucher batches from corporate A/P.
  • Prepare standard financial and operational reports.
  • Ensure consistent application of relevant accounting guidelines and policies.
  • Monitor plant fixed assets for accuracy.
  • Assist plant operations in achieving A/P efficiency targets.
  • Prepare, review, and present annual and quarterly operational budgets and profit projections.
  • Prepare Local, State, and federal tax returns as applicable.
  • Coordinate with HR on payroll activity.
